Cyril despres victorious in the oilybia rally

Cyril despres victorious in the oilybia rally6 stages, 2,300 kilometres in total, 1,600 in special tests, forty motorcyclist rivals: these are the numbers for the 2010 edition of the Oilybia Rally in Morocco, won by Cyril Despres, followed by Helder Rodrigues and Marc Coma.

The French rider ran an excellent race, dealing with the dangers of the desert on his new KTM 450 Rally bike, which he was riding for the first time, specially designed to comply with the new Dakar regulations.

A race not included in the Rally-Raid World Championships, the Oilybia Rally in Morocco is the only race with stages which start and end in the same location. The new element of this edition was the more “precise” navigation, obtained by limiting the detection range of the masked waypoints, which the riders had to discover by centring them with a margin of error of 400 metres.

Stage after stage, Cyril Despres decided to trust in Klonyx MX, the Rudy Project goggles which can guarantee the eyes maximum protection and clear vision, thereby blocking out the blinding African sun. The lenses, in fact, are available in various different formats, from those ideal for protection from the most intense sun to those which are more suitable for critical visibility conditions. In addition, in order to guarantee riders total comfort and, therefore, total concentration when racing, the lenses have a handy “tear off” system, which permits clear vision at all times without having to clean the visor. The nose protector is also crucial for indispensable protection from annoying burns and external elements.
